Where I Came From

At three, I was on a ship headed to a refugee camp in Guam. My father was an officer in the South Vietnamese Military, working alongside American allies in the defense of freedom for his country. When Saigon fell, my family evacuated. With the help of a sponsor family, we settled in Santa Barbara and proudly became US Citizens. My parents worked ceaselessly to provide a loving home and bright future for their four daughters.

My husband and I met in high school. We moved from Santa Barbara to the Central Coast where we each graduated from Cal Poly. We found our forever home in Arroyo Grande and have raised three beautiful children here.  While running my own businesses, I avidly volunteered in our community. After serving both on the AG Architectural Review Committee and the Planning Commission, I was unanimously appointed to the Arroyo Grande City Council.  For the past 19 months, I have worked hard to serve the residents of Arroyo Grande. I have supported small businesses, water sustainability, public safety (fire, police, infrastructure), and a balanced budget.

My Family

First and foremost, I am a family woman! Mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt… We’ve got a big family! I take pride in being all about family, because my family is truly my everything.

I have been married to my amazing husband for over 23 years. Together we have built a wonderful life and stable home for our 3 beautiful children, Megan (21), Julia (19), and Jason (16), here in Arroyo Grande. Our children all attended New Hope Preschool, Ocean View Elementary, Judkins Middle School and Arroyo Grande High School. My 2 eldest are at Cal Poly and SDSU respectively, while I’ve still got 2 more years with my youngest. We also have a tortoise and 2 dogs who keep us all entertained.

From the day our family moved to Arroyo Grande, I have spent some of my greatest moments caring, planning and preparing for my children’s future. Many friends of mine are 2nd, 3rd generation AG residents… so it is safe to say, what we do as a council and the decisions we make are important with lasting effects. We need to be able to look back and say… “These were some of our greatest moments because we were planning and preparing our city for generations to come.”
